Development of Inland Waterways at Karanja

Details of IWT:

IWT development at Karanja port has RO-RO type end birthing Jetty along with fully modern ship shaped Terminal Building. The project details are as follows:

Offshore details:

Length – 230m, Width – 7.2m, Span – 10m for 750mm dia, 5m for 900 mm.

No. piles – 38 of 750mm dia & 24 of 900mm dia.

Onshore details:

Bund area – 8953 Sq.m, Building area – 617 Sq.m., Parking & open space area – 1500 Sq.m.

Demolition of Existing Jetty & Construction of New Capton Of Ports Pontoon-Dolphin Berth at Goa

Client:  Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation

            Project Cost: Rs. 17.84 Crores

Demolition of existing jetty

  • Inspection & survey of existing jetty structure.
  • Proposing suitable time & sequence for demolition vis-a-vis construction of new jetty.
  • Proposing latest demolition methods preventing any adverse effects of demolition on vessle traffic & marine environment.
  • Estimation & tendering leading to selection of qualified demolition contractor.
  • Detailed supervision & documentation of actual demolition works.

CONSTRUCTION OF NEW FACILITY

  • Understanding client’s current & future requirements.
  • Data collection & surveys.
  • Concept design & drawings showing various options.
  • Design, drawings, estimates & documentation for tenders & short listing of contractors.
  • Assist client in evaluating & finalizing contractors, actual award of work & site handover.
  • PMC services from construction to practical completion.
  • Post completion: contract administration & inspection leading to settlement of final bills.

TWO NOS. OF CONCRETE FLOATING PONTOONS WITH BERTHING DOLPHINS.


  • 2 nos. Of 20m x5 m pontoons with 3 nos. Of berthing dolphins and 10x30m piled jetty for service buildings and access to pontoons.
  • New concept in India – widely used in Europe & Americaè offers maximum flexibility in catering to range of vessels.
  • Shortest possible construction periodèconstruction of 3 major components viz.  Fixed concrete jetty, pontoons & berthing dolphins can be started simultaneously on approval of final design & drawings.
  • Mix of floating dock and fixed dolphins è minimum number of pilesèno need to demolish existing jetty completelyèexisting jetty can be demolished in phases to aid in construction.
  • Less material required compared to fixed jettyèless space for construction plant & materials.
  • Mix of floating & fixed deckècan cater to a large range of vessels.
  • Increased cost efficiency  è overall cost same or slightly higher compared to conventional proposalèoverall utility much greater than conventional jetty.
  • Reduced environmental impact on river compared to conventional jetty.

Existing corroded steel jetty Replaced with State of the art  120 m long 60 m wide Concrete Jetty with 2 Nos. of Floating  Concrete Pontoons.
